I just finished watching the movie Glory Road. I knew that it was based on a true story but I wanted to know just how much of it is true. I had a pretty good hunch that they probably really were the first all black starting line up in college basketball history, but I wanted to know how much else was true. Granted, I'm not much for sports, but I really got caught up in this story.
I've been reading through all of the inaccuracies of the Glory Road movie at IMDB. Of course they made things a lot more dramatic. It was interesting to see at Don Haskins wikipedia page that he is reportedly quoted as saying
"I really didn't think about starting five black guys. I just wanted to put my five best guys on the court," Haskins was later quoted as saying. "I just wanted to win that game."
I looked through all of the bios of the actual players but couldn't really find anything about what that season was really like. I'm going to have to head to the good ol' library. I'll probably need cross country movers to bring home all the books that I'll need to read in order to really grasp exactly what went on.
