I've known since about the third grade that the Statue of Liberty was actually made of copper. The greenish color is actually a patina. However, I was looking at copper tile the other day and thought "Wow that must have been awesome to see this sparkling statue all shiny." Yes, I think deep thoughts. So I went on the hunt for photos or illustrations. Also of note there was a new torch put on the statue in 1986. The old torch is in the monument's lobby. The new torch has been plated with gold. Here is what I came up with as to what the Statue looked like when it was copper.

Nice Post! The Statue of Liberty has two symbolic value, the first is; it was gifted by the France has an affirmation of the historical alliance between United States and France.
