Who is the 18 Star Chef?

Well it seems like a lot of people are really fascinated with the BMW commercial about excellence. One of the facts in this commercial was about a chef receiving 18 stars. I just thought, wow that really doesn't make sense, can't restaurants only have like four stars, or is it five?

Obviously I don't eat at restaurants with stars very often. By "very often" I mean ever. I usually only eat out at places that have me looking around for a fat burner. I looked it up and apparently the eighteen star chef is Joel Robuchon. He earned the 18 stars across several restaurants, giving him the most stars ever. I'm tempted to just open up 19 mediocre one star restaurants just so I can beat him. Sadly, the only person who I know from the list of the chefs with the most stars is Gordon Ramsay because I watch Hell's Kitchen.

Just to let you know Joël Robuchon is considered, by many of the top chefs in the world, to be the greatest chef alive.

As far as Michelin Stars. A restaurant can only have up to 3 Michelin Stars. So him having 19 is a truly incredible feat.

And if a chef opens a restaurant w/ 1 Michelin Star you garners respect.
Multiple 1 stars, let alone a combination of stars to equal 19 is truly remarkable.

Btw here is a guide to Michelin Stars:

Background - Michelin star guide - what the stars mean:

* One-Michelin-star: A very good restaurant or pub in its category
The star indicates a good place to stop on your journey. But beware of comparing the star given to an expensive de luxe establishment with that of a simple restaurant where you can appreciate fine cooking at a reasonable price.

**Two-Michelin-star: Excellent cooking, worth a detour
Specialities and wines of first class quality. This will be reflected in the price

***Three-Michelin-star: Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey
One always eats here extremely well, sometimes superbly. Fine wines, faultless service, elegant surroundings. One will pay accordingly!

I'm sure you thought of it like a movie review, where they are based off a 4/5 star system where 19 would seem easy. But hardly any restaurants are quality enough to get 1 star, let alone incredible enough for 3.
