The Easiest Instrument to Play

The first time I played the drums I thought that I would just have an innate ability for it. I hear them all the time in music right? It has to be the easiest instrument, right? Then I sat down and even though I play the piano, guitar, and violin the whole idea of percussion was totally new to me. I didn't know what all of the Drum Accessories were for. I didn't even know how to hold the drum sticks. I think with a practice pad I could get the hang of it but I'd still need lessons. Is there such a thing as an easy instrument to play?
