Most of the things I learn from Suze Orman aren't facts but instead just inspirational life lessons. On a recent show she just started talking about her life story which I hadn't heard because I only watch her show and haven't read any of her books.
She said that she was a waitress until she was 30. I really like that she doesn't always tell people they need more education or to change jobs in order to make more money. She said all of her customers, friends, and family gave her the money she needed to start her own restaurant totaling $50000. Then a financial advisor lost it all for her. I'm just guessing that's how she got started in the industry. Sometimes when I see all of the people with hundreds of thousands of dollars saved up who call in for the “Can I Afford It?" segment it's just pretty overwhelming. However, just hearing about Suze's story is very inspiring and shows it's never too late to make a big life change but it should be a calculated one.
