The Color of the Year for 2012

I think that this is a fun tradition that Pantone has. Last year's color was a honeysuckle pink tone. This is supposed to influence a lot of decorating choices and fashion lines. The year before it definitely did when it was turquoise. However, I didn't see too much of the honeysuckle; probably because it is so gender specific.

The color of the year for 2012 has already been announced and it is Tangerine Tango. What I thought was so interesting was this article with the executive director. He basically says it was his responsibility to pick a happy and encouraging tone that's a little bold because that's what we need right now. I love that they put that much effort and thought into it. If you have spinal surgery or are hit by the recession sometimes it's the little things that keep you going. I'm sure I would just pick swatches at random which is probably why that isn't my job.
