Tell if It's Silver by Smell

This is a trick that I learned on either a pawn show or a storage show. Sure, I use smell mostly in relation to food which is probably why I should read liponox reviews. However, to use smell to identify silver? Wow I must be so much cooler than I originally thought. There's so many of these around that it's difficult to remember which one I was watching. I found it hilarious that they said to smell silver to tell if it's real. 925 silver shouldn't smell, but if it smells like copper then it's going to be a silver plate. I can just picture walking up to someone at ahttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif flea market and sniffing their jewelry.
