What Color is Oatmeal and Why Can't I Find It?

One of the great things about being a woman is that we automatically know at least twenty seven different names for every color. It's a gift. For awhile now I've had a fun series on this blog where I go to Creative Commons and try to pick a few different objects that have been tagged with some obscure color name. I love getting different ideas of what a color means. I usually gather everything from photos of diamonds, natural fibers and foods. I was anticipating that I would do this again but it didn't work out exactly like I had planned.

Lately, even I have run into a little bit of color trouble. See someone told my mom that oatmeal was the perfect color for her to wear. Well, maybe I told her oatmeal was her color. Then we had to figure out exactly what the color oatmeal was. We knew it wasn't taupe, wheat, champagne or beige. It definitely wasn’t copper or white. So I was going to do my Creative Commons trick. However, I went through almost every page and all I got was well...pictures of oatmeal. Oatmeal is mushy so it's hard to see the exact color of it. I still don't know what color oatmeal is but I'm fiercely hungry for some chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies. (I was looking at all the oatmeal cookies you know for research.)
