The local news has a segment where they stood on the street & asked people questions. This is usually a cause for great shame as I think "I can't believe I live in the same state as these people." I always make a point to avoid any kind of question on the street program for this exact same reason. I don't want anyone to see me on the TV & think "I can't believe I live in the same state as these people." . They usually don't know who the President is or some such nonsense.
The reporter asked people to sing Auld Lang Syne. They really should just change the lyrics officially to "Should auld acquaintance be forgot, & never da da dum da da da da da da da da da da da da da dummmmmmmmm". I just did a word count on Auld Lang Syne & it's approximately 134 words, I know five of them in order. How many do you know?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?
- CHORUS:
- For auld lang syne, my dear,
- for auld lang syne,
- we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
- for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
And surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine† ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
- CHORUS
