I was reading a book about business, & it really got my attention when it started talking about ice cream. It said that there was a man named Hamwi at the World's fair in France who specialized in making very skinny waffles. He was placed next to an ice cream vendor who ran out of bowls. So he rolled up a skinny waffles & made the first waffle cone. They both became successful because of their teamwork & could buy all of the diamonds & Arizona luxury real estate that they wanted. It was an ice cream cone dynasty that was based on the kindergarten principle of sharing.
It's a heart warming story about helping compeition instead of trying to annihlate them. I looked all over the internet & the ice cream cone is attributed to about six different people. However, Hamwi has the best story, I doubt it's true, but it's a good lesson.

Sharing. Now there's a concept. If I can get my two boys to grasp the concept, why can't I get my corporate upper management to grasp it? They pit their own people against each other and circulate news articles that talk about how nice people never make it to the top in business today.
(sigh)
Sharing is a nice thought.
Mmmmmm....ice cream.....
I love the lesson of learning to collaborate with your competitors, and the lesson of thinking outside of the box to find a new niche.
