* Allowing a spoonful of sugar to dissolve on the back of one's tongue
* Drinking a glass of water with a spoon touching one's temple.
Respiratory
* Breathing slowly and deeply in while thinking 'breathing out' and breathing slowly and fully out while thinking 'breathing in'
* Holding one's breath while optionally squeezing one's stomach
* Breathing deeply through the nose, then exhaling slowly through the mouth
* Exhaling all the air from one's lungs and holding one's breath while swallowing water or saliva
* Blowing up a balloon
* Inducing sneezing
* Take a nap
* A combination of two home remedies - drinking and holding one's breath.
Instructions: fill a cup of water; drink slowly while blocking your nasal airway with your other hand. This creates a sensation of drowning and will cause the hiccup to stop in most people.
A sense of drowning? Yeah, that sounds terribly healthy. You know the whole sugar idea was invented by a kid "Yeah mom I'm supposed to eat sugar". I've been through pretty much this whole list today, except the blowing up a balloon. The only one that I know works is the knife at the temple while drinking a glass of water. Why don't I try it? Simply because that's an accident waiting to happen, & the ER doctor would laugh at me.
