A language without yes

I was reading the book "The Opposite of Fate" by Amy Tan. In it, she mentioned that there wasn't word for yes or no in Chinese. How could this be? No is my favorite word, if I went to China, I wouldn't have anything to say. I've done some looking around, & it seems that this is the case. So, it would be the equivalent of having to say that you want something, or that something is such & such. So there are ways to confirm or deny something, but just no words for yes & no.

Hmmmm...reminds me of how odd it is that there is not an "F" sound in the native Fillipino language. Which is odd since the country is called the Phillipines.

I know this because my birth-dad is Fillipino and clued me in. I love random facts like that.
