This is Why I Check Facts

I heard a quote on TV the other day that I immediately wrote down just because it is exactly why I write this blog and it's perfectly sums up how I think. First some background. I have a lot of brothers and most of them are older. I grew up before the internet. While we did have a set of encyclopedias in our house, there just weren't enough books in the world to try and verify the silly things that my brothers told me. Sometimes to this day before I say "Did you know that...?" I pause and think "Wait, did I learn this from my brothers. If so it is most likely folklore invented to scare me". I know that a lot of bad has come from the constant onslaught of information but it must be so much different for kids now. There are so many more ways to say "Wait, that's not true".
