How Early Do You Put Up Your Decorations?

I was watching this show on TLC about extreme or obsessive Christmas decorating. Many of the people featured started putting up their collections in either October or July. Others shopped for these collections year round and many kept the planning process going straight through the whole year. To me, you can put the tree up anytime after Thanksgiving (if it isn’t a live one). I do love the decorations so much that they stay up until New Years. What is your "acceptable timetable" for holiday decorating?
