Would You Convert a Home?

I saw this article on Yahoo awhile back. It's about million dollar home conversions. Sure it's eco-friendly and just plain cool. However, I often wonder if people are just doing it for shock value. Why else would you spend a million dollars to live in an updated barn? It might be a tricked out barn but it's still a barn. I'd at least like a barn where they kept all the equipment like a composter instead of being a stable for animals. I like the church renovation the best but even that seems weird to me to just live in a church and be making a sandwich in an old chapel. Granted, I do believe every stained glass window in the world should be saved. Would you convert a home?
