Once again, my obsessive watching of trivia shows has paid off. Today I learned that the yo-yo was originally designed as a weapon. I went to wikipedia & it said that the yo-yo was invented as a weapon in the Philippines. It didn't have anymore information than that, but just wondering about how it was used as a weapon makes me laugh.

If you've ever seen professionals wield a yo-yo, you can definitely see how it would be a weapon. You can throw it at someone who is a pretty good distance from you and it comes right back to you. And they HURT.
I used to be pretty good in college. I had this yo-yo that was some cheapo knock off (definitely NOT a Duncan). When it broke, I was basically left with two razor sharp discs at the end of a string. Oh yah. THAT thing was a weapon for SURE.
