Apparently Fugu is a celebrated Japanese dish prepared from the porcupine fish. Toxic amounts of tetrodotoxin are contained in the skin, & internal organs. There isn't an antidote. Only specially licensed chefs are authorized to prepare this dish. A fugu apprentice has to study for 2-3 years before being allowed to prepare it. According to wikipedia:
I can see people risking their lives if the fish actually tasted good, but if it's bland? No thanks. Would you try it?
While fugu connoisseurs love the taste and the texture of the fugu, many people actually find it rather bland and tasteless. Some professional chefs prepare the fish so that there is a minute amount of poison in the meat, giving a prickling feeling and numbness on the tongue and the lips.

I don't eat anything where I have to sign a release relinquishing the chef and establishment of all responsibility for my death.
I have matured to an age where I now only eat things that I really like and/or are good for me. So no more eating on a dare for me.
