True or False: Reading hurts your eyesight

More specifically, does reading in dim light mean you will need glasses? I always read so much when I was a kid that people told me that I would need glasses. I did need glasses, but that might've just been my desire to look more like Lisa Loeb.

According to the super cool article that I'll reveal in a few posts, reading in the dark can strain your eyes. However, your eyes do recover from the strain quite soon after you finish reading. The article also points out that people used to read by candlelight. Now we have all kinds of chandeliers, lights & even popcorn machines. Not that popcorn machines help you read but they are one of my favorite advancements in technology. We have much better lighting conditions now, but a higher rate of nearsightedness. (What, the article used the word nearsightedness too, pinky swear).
