Why do we have Daylight Savings Time?

I love Daylight Savings Time. Well I love Daylight Savings Time in the fall when I gain an extra hour.  However, it is my mortal enemy in the Spring.

I often wonder, why do we have Daylight Savings Time? According to wikipedia, DST was thought of by a man named William Willett when he was riding early in the morning. He observed that most people in London slept through the summer day. He was also a golfer who hated it when he had to stop a game at dusk. He proposed that the clock should be set forward during the summer months. That's right, blame golf. I know I do.
