When I was watching the old version of Ripley's Believe It or Not, they shared an interesting fact. Usually I go outside during commercials & think about the fact that I need outdoor furniture covers. I was glad that I caught this short feature.
Apparently, in 1795 there was a proposal to make German the official language of the United States. It was defeated by only one vote & apparently that person was German. At least, that is what Ripley said. I found a few sites that seemed to support this evidence. However, there were a lot more sites that seemed to think that this was false. I hadn't heard the myth before today, but I'm sure it makes people think a lot more about who they will vote for.
